Rizzoli’s mother is always pushing her to go out and find someone while her own marriage ends in divorce. The mother doesn’t push her own self to find a more suitable husband, she pushes her daughter. This is projection. Her energy for finding a husband is now wrapped up in Rizzoli’s career. This is what happened with the Nazi’s and the SS. Passive behavior and a willingness to project their energies to another who they permit to make decisions for them, freeing them from any real responsibility. In the case of Rizzoli, she isn’t being passive, she transforms her seeking mother’s energies into a cause for finding criminals.
