…it looks like there is the potential for some stuff in the Atlantic that could possibly force Irene west, a Fran like scenario. The high pressure up north could potentially push Irene off shore by Saturday afternoon. This weather map has Low disturbance #1 possibly moving into Florida. Once the low disturbance crosses the sandbar and hits the gulf stream it could intensify and become a tropical storm. This might push Irene further inland.
Since Irene has stalled here a little I think the high pressure is going to miss pushing Irene off shore. Both disturbances #1 and #2 seem to be fueling Irene a bit.
