What if the killer were born in the wee hours of the night, but had a day job. Her waking, mind would exist at night, her dreaming mind would exist during the daylight hours and she could be said to be sleepwalking or acting-out the content of whatever her mind had taken in the day before. Her sane mind would make sense of her existence only at night, only she is asleep and her mind is being tapped by someone choosing to exploit its content. And consider that we all might be possessed of a sane mind and an insane mind, but generally most people confront their insane thoughts at night while dreaming.
This sane mind could also be dissociated during the daylight hours in which another might act out its logical wishes and desires, logical only to she who possessed that mind and would be illogical to the one possessed of it, as in an acquaintance acted out my desire to go to California.
I was drawn to him just as I think Merrick and Prince Albert were drawn to Mary Jane Kelly.
What's In Your Brain? What's In Your Mind?
…and how one’s consciousness remains illusive. One can turn this around into a daytime consciousness and night time unconsciousness in which the unconscious mind might then be tapped and exploited. One can see how Shakespeare came to be despised. No doubt people likely began to recognize their own thoughts in his work.
