Can a person live without a soul?

Do you think a person can live without a soul? - Yahoo! Answers

I have asked myself this question, especially after seeing the film Choices and after getting myself as mixed up as I am and wanting to get out of it.  It was also raised after I learned about Parmahansa Yogananda, often called “The Sleeping Prophet”.  It was said that he died while his body lives in a youthful state.

If I stepped out of the temporal world would I continue to be connected to that world?  Can I even sever this connection without dying?  This question was also raised in Choices.   Although this question is not about fetuses and abortion it is about being without a soul.   Would an infant without a soul be blind until it is more developed?   Would it even develop without a soul?   People who suffer brain damage and are in a comatose state are not often revived because they possess a soul, this is because their problem exists in the physical body and they require machines to keep them alive.   If I did remove myself from the present enmeshments, would I take my soul with me?   I have been able to remove my soul from the bondage of others.

Could I sever this connection with a laser and cut myself out of it like a piece of a puzzle and still survive?

When we die, I think we release our souls and they stay with those to whom we are connected including the content of that soul.  I believe this happened to me in 1957 when my grandmother died, 1974 with my father when he died and 1994 when my mother’s second husband died.  I know they are still with me.  Our bodies die from poor eating, disease, or poor content in the mind which contributes to health problems.  So I tend to think we cannot live without a soul but the question still persists.
