So maybe it was Katherine who had the affair with Robeson or maybe it was some boxer who beat her to death verbally, then claimed she died of cancer or maybe she was mixed up with some boxer.   One of her parents was dark skinned I’m guessing from the movies I’ve seen it was her mother.  She wanted to be white but wasn’t accepted and didn’t want to be with men of color so she was sort of in limbo…her mother’s second husband was Jewish.

I learned this much from some of Claudette Colbert’s films.   She apparently made her housekeeper very wealthy in the pancake business.
